A range of motion of +15-20 cm beyond your waist measurement is recommended. The model in the picture has a range of motion of +18 cm. If you want the jacket a bit looser, you can knit it with 5.5 mm needles (with a gauge of 15 stitches per 10 cm, the measurements will be approximately 7 cm wider).
