ATLAS SWEATER KNITTING PATTERN AND YARN
Knitting kit with yarn and free digital knitting pattern. Easy knitting pattern for a children's sweater with nice details and fit. The sweater is knitted top-down. You start by casting on stitches at the neck and knit back and forth while increasing on each side to achieve a good shoulder fit. Once the back piece is finished, the front pieces are knitted by picking up stitches from the back piece. The front and back pieces are knitted together after the armhole is finished. The sleeves are knitted top-down; you pick up stitches in the armhole on the body.
FIT
Ease (positive ease) is 15-20 cm from the chest/bust measurement for a loose fit. If the child measures, for example, 63 cm around the widest part of their torso, sizes 4-5 years or 6-7 years will fit best (ease of 17 cm or 21 cm). Choose size based on bust measurement and adjust sleeve and body length to fit the child. You can also measure the bust of a sweater the child already has and likes the fit of.
Note – correct measurements require that stitch gauge is observed.
Yarn quantity info: If you want to knit a solid-colored sweater, you'll need 5 (5) 6 (6) 7 (8) 9 skeins of your desired color. For sizes 9 months to 4-5 years, you'll only need 1 skein of two colors and 2 skeins of the two colors you use most.
You also need a needle for thread attachment, scissors, and a measuring tape.
